A loft conversion in the Holland Park conservation area in west London, adding 55 sq.m. (592 sq. ft.) of mansard roof space, including two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a Living Room, to an existing flat.
The structural timber roof was exposed and treated with limewash. The floor was ash.
Client testimonial: “MRA has designed, and supervised the construction of, a major roof extension at my flat in Holland Park. From the initial obtaining of planning permission to the successful completion of the project Martha has demonstrated an admirable professionalism and attention to detail. Out of a former unused attic she has created 55 square metres of new space comprising a large cinema room (with wood-burning stove) and two bedroom/bathroom suites. She has created a beautiful new floor full of space and light, which has immeasurably enhanced the living conditions of the flat- and incidentally increased its value.
Throughout the construction process Martha and her team were meticulous in attention to both engineering and aesthetic detail, and showed themselves flexible in the face of evolving client requirements.
I have no hesitation in recommending this conscientious and hard-working architect, and would be pleased to expand on these remarks if required.”
