Refurbishment and 2-story infill extension – adding 10.5 sq.m. (113 sq. ft.) at lower ground level 7.5 sq.m. (81 sq. ft.) at ground floor – of a 5-story mid-terrace house in Pimlico, re-integrating a basement flat into the house.

The project included a new staircase between the basement and first floor levels, and a ‘hidden’ bookshelf door.

Client testimonial: “Martha worked with us to convert our Victorian terraced house, split into a separate basement flat and ground floor up house, into a more practical and spacious family home. Over a period of weeks we worked on the detail of the floor plan, discussing each room’s purpose and finessing the design. This meant that as we went into planning permission we were absolutely clear about our plans and expectations. Martha was imaginative and patient, often suggesting various layouts for each room to ensure that we achieved the best results. She was also excellent at the detail around finishes, producing samples and sending web links to help our decision making.

As we went into the build Martha worked collaboratively with us and the builders and communicated clearly over any challenges encountered along the way.

We were delighted with the outcome. Our living space is much more suitable for our family, being larger, more comfortable and finished in the way we had imagined.”
